This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

- employability skills and knowledge at AQF level 2.
- realistic education, employment or community engagement options and appropriate training pathways.
- skills to contribute effectively to a diverse society.

Entry requirements

There are no essential entry requirements for this course.

Entrants would benefit from ACSF level 2 language, literancy and numeracy levels sufficient to read and interpret simple documents and and prepare simple reports.

Please note that in addition to your formal training you may need to allow for additional study time. Your teacher will guide you in what is appropriate for you.


Subsidised fee

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under Smart and Skilled.

To be eligible for the Smart and Skilled subsidised fee you must be an Australian or NZ citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder. You must also be over 15, no longer at school, and live or work in NSW. See our Smart and Skilled page for full details.

The subsidised fees shown below are indicative only. What you will actually pay depends on your individual circumstances.You will be able to estimate your fee before completing your application or enrolment.

Full fee

If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.

If you are granted recognition of prior learning or credit transfer for one or more units in this qualification, your student fee will be reduced.

Course related charges

You may be required to pay a course related charge in addition to the course fee. Course related charges cover the cost of materials, resources, equipment or services you may need to participate in your course.

Early school leavers and TVET

Prospective students under 17 years of age who have not completed Year 10 or equivalent should go to the Early School Leavers page or contact their school. Prospective TVET students should contact their school regarding enrolling in this course.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

All students studying a nationally recognised qualification must have a Unique Student Identifier before enrolling. If you do not already have a USI, go to www.usi.gov.au to create one.

TAFE NSW courses run only if there is sufficient demand and resources.

Course availability

Important Dates

This course is suitable for people who wish to complete a certificate II qualification and would like a pathway into further study or employment. The course involves self-paced study on or off campus (negotiated with the Head Teacher). Students may attend campus for up to 20 hours per week for 18 weeks and can complete the course in a shorter time-frame. Days and times are flexible.You may enrol in this course throughout the year at Level 2, Block M (Northern Beaches Campus Learning Centre) any time between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm Monday to Friday.
