The TAFE English Language Centre, Northern Sydney Institute

The TAFE English Language Centre (TELC), Northern Sydney Institute is a specialist ELICOS centre for international students in English language courses.

Students develop the language skills that they need to live and study in Australia.

imageTELC is based at Crows Nest College, a vibrant, busy and successful college. Crows Nest College is part of TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute. TAFE NSW is well recognised in Australia as it is owned by the New South Wales Government.

When can I study at TELC?

TELC caters for everybody including individual travellers, groups, study tours, and business training.

imageEnglish classes are offered 50 weeks of the year and start every 5 weeks. Following enrolment, new students can start classes any Monday.

Depending on your ability and needs, classes run for 5 – 50 weeks, or more if you want. Students must be 15 years and over.

Pathways to university and a career


Employers in many industries have a high opinion of TAFE NSW qualifications. When you have completed your course you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification in Australia which may put you at an advantage when looking for employment in your chosen industry overseas.


iamgeOur advanced diplomas and diplomas are also recognised by Australian universities for advanced entry into related degree programs (up to two years credit).

Many of our students are university graduates who come to NSI to gain advanced technical and practical training in their fields.

Graduates from the TAFE English Language Centre, Northern Sydney Institute are guaranteed a place in a TAFE NSW Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Certificate course (as long as the academic entry requirements for the course are met). NSI offers over 600 courses to 50,000 local and international students each year.


Degree pathways


TAFE NSW graduates may gain credit at university for previous TAFE study in specific course areas so you don’t have to repeat work you have already done. This may be possible through particular arrangements with some Australian universities.
