Northern Sydney Institute has a range of support services and courses to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
Gamarada Aboriginal Education and Training Unit

NSI's Gamarada Aboriginal Education and Training Unit is located at Meadowbank College. The unit provides support and advice to assist Aboriginal students to achieve their goals.

What does ‘Gamarada’ mean?

The word Gamarada means 'friends'.
Commissioned by NSI to create an r image for the Gamarada Unit, Kamilaroi Aboriginal artist Kevin Duncan created 'Ghiong'. The image shows a whale rising high above the water to represent the link to Sydney's northern beaches, where there are many Aboriginal paintings and rock carvings.

Gawura Aboriginal Learning Centre

The Gawura Aboriginal Learning Centre at Northern Beaches College is a purpose-built teaching and learning facility for Aboriginal students. The centre is a welcoming learning environment for students, staff and community groups. Programs include Indigenous Tour Guiding, Events Management and other Aboriginal Cultural Education Programs (ACEP)
The work Gawura means 'whale'.
