Communication devices – update and consolidation of policies, guidelines and delegations

The guidelines provide information for all DEC staff on the acquisition, provision and use of communication devices and associated services and should be read in conjunction with the Department’s Communication Devices and Associated Services Policy. DEC Portal

Logon to the DEC Portal or self-register using your current network user logon. (Don't forget to set up a secret question and answer once you have logged on). Once you have set or re-set your DEC Portal password this also becomes your NSI network password.

Many NSI courses now use Sakai to support flexible delivery. This involves students accessing learning and assessment materials via the Internet and teachers communicating with students electronically.

The eResources Portal gives you access to full-text and audio-visual online resources purchased by your library and free Internet databases highly relevant to students and staff at Northern Sydney Institute Campuses.

This is an exciting new site that has been developed to support staff in all aspects of developing a training program from a training package.

NSI students and staff now have access to over 1,500 high quality online courses teaching creative and business skills on about 1,600 subject areas such as MS Office, Adobe programs, digital media, social media, web development, programming, design, smart phones and computers. These comprehensive courses are available in all levels from beginners to advanced.

Toolbox repository

Provides learning objects available for teachers and trainers to download for free use with their learners.



Free research database for tertiary education, especially as it relates to workforce needs, skills development, and social inclusion provided by the NCVER. It is international in scope and contains over 44,000 English language records, many with links to full text documents.



Staff and students now have access to YouTube when on campus. Suitable teaching video resources may be available if you search this site.
