Crows Nest College Library
You need to be a member of the student association to borrow DVDs and music CDs. Reference material, current magazines and some videos are not for loan. RenewalsYou may renew items up to 2 times on or before the due date as long as no one has placed a hold on the items. You can renew by phone or in person. Reserving itemsIf any item you want is out on loan, you can reserve it in person or by phoning the library. You will be contacted by mail when the item is available. Returning itemsReturn chutes are located both inside and outside the library so that items may be returned during college opening hours. Items must be returned or renewed on or before the due date. Items should be returned to the library from which they were borrowed. Failure to return items may result in fines. You must replace or pay for any items you lose or damage. FinesFines are charged for overdue library material. You will be posted two notices of warning before you incur a fine. You will be suspended from borrowing and your testamur may be blocked until you return all outstanding items and pay any fines incurred.
The collectionSpecialist collections
Special reserve collectionThis is a collection of items in high demand including teachers' own material. The collection is located at the loans desk. You can borrow items to use in the library but you cannot take them home. FacilitiesComputers and InternetCrows Nest College Library has 13 computers for student use. These have free access to the Internet, Microsoft Office and Macromedia programs. Adobe Photoshop is also available. You can book a computer in person or by phone. Please come to the loans desk and present your TAFEcard when taking up your booking. ScannersThere is one scanner available. Please inform library staff when you want to use one when booking computer time. Printing & photocopyingPrinting and photocopying is available in the library for students. The photocopier/printer is operated by TAFEcard. There is a discount for college association members using this service when using their activated TAFEcard. Seminar roomsStudy rooms are available for groups of 2 or more students. Bookings for rooms can be made in person or by phone. Your TAFEcard is required when taking up your booking. EquipmentThe library can provide a light projector, laptop, DVD/VCR player, televideo, cd/mp3 player for students to use in the library or within the college. To use any of this equipment outside the library students will need to arrange for their teacher to borrow the equipment. ServicesInter library loansItems not held at this library may be obtained from other TAFE NSW libraries. Requests must be made for course related material only. Information skillsThe library conducts orientation tours for new and returning students. These class tours provide an overview of the services and facilities provided by the library and basic instruction on the use of the library catalogue tailored to the study area of each tour group. To assist you with your research and assignments, library staff can provide group or individual education on the Internet and various online databases. Please book at the loans desk or by phone.
Student SharePointsAccess to SharePoints is restricted to Crows Nest College students studying in the following subject areas. From home: log on to a SharePoint using your DET username and password with EDU\ in front of the username (e.g. EDU\john.smith).
