Services for international students

Services for international students

Northern Sydney Institute’s International Student Services Office at Crows Nest College is a specialised centre that looks after the needs of international students.

There is a team of experienced professionals on every College to provide advice and counselling on a wide variety of student concerns, in a warm and friendly environment. Our priority is to ensure your safety and welfare while you are studying with us.

International students coordinators (ISCOs)

Hide

Each of our colleges provides an international students coordinator (ISCO) on College. The ISCO at your college can help you with your enrolment and timetable, organise orientation, social and graduation activities, respond to your problems and identify the need for tutorial support.

Orientation

Hide

We realise that arriving in a new country is not easy. To welcome international students, we can arrange to meet you on arrival at Sydney International Airport. During your first week we provide you with an orientation which includes information on living and studying in Sydney. We can also assist you with matters such as bank accounts and help you to find suitable accommodation.

International students and alumni

Hide

As a new student or a graduate of the Institute, you can join our international alumni community to keep in touch with your friends, or make new friends who have shared similar experiences. You can also obtain information on careers and job vacancies and find out what's happening in our institute.

Study skills programs

Hide

We run specialised study skills programs to help you to develop skills such as note-taking, library and internet research, and exam preparation.

Learner support

Hide

Free group learner support is one of the many services provided to help you succeed in your studies

Student association

Hide

Membership of the student association is also free for international students. The association organises activities (social, cultural and sporting) which provide opportunities for students to gain new experiences and make new friends.

Individual learning centre (ILC)

Hide

The ILC at each college provides free support with English, mathematics and study skills. The centre has DVDs, CDs and computers for student use, and teachers to help you plan a program to meet your needs.

Student counsellors

Hide

All NSI colleges have highly qualified student counsellors who can advise you on matters such as settling in, coping with exams and exam stress, relaxation techniques and further studies at university.

CareersConnect@nsi

Hide

CareersConnect@nsi is a service that assists employers to find the right employees and NSI students to find appropriate employment opportunities. Many international students gain part-time work in Sydney while they are studying.
