Description

In this course, you will learn the foundations of ceramic studio art practice in a supportive and professional environment. Explore basic wheelforming, design, mouldmaking and handforming skills. In developing ideas for project work, you will refine technical and conceptual skills through a process of experimentation and practice. Teachers will demonstrate a wide range of specific techniques and skills so that you can unlock your creativity with clay. This course can be extended into a full year program as a series of four payment terms to give a full range of basic ceramics skills. On completion of the full year, students may be eligible to articulate into 10417 Ceramics Diploma.

Career options

This course can be extended into a full year program as a series of four payment
terms to give a full range of basic ceramics skills. On completion of the full
year, students may be eligible to articulate into Ceramics Diploma 10417.

Important Dates

The Ceramics foundation is suitable for students with little or no prior ceramic experience. Learn the foundations of ceramic studio art practice in a supportive and professional environment. Develop wheel forming, design, mould making, hand forming, surface treatment, kiln packing and firing skills. You will refine technical and conceptual skills through a process of experimentation and practice. Teachers will demonstrate a wide range of specific techniques and skills so that you can further develop with clay. This course can be extended into a full year program as a series of four payment terms to give a full range of basic ceramics skills. On completion of the full year, students may articulate into the 25993 Ceramics Foundation Intermediate or Diploma of Ceramics. Term one is inspired by historical examples and coil forming techniques. Learners will create multiple forms utilizing traditional coil forming processes. Term 1 of semester 2- Wheel forming focus. Learn to make functional forms on the potters wheel. 4 hours per week on Tuesdays x 8 weeks from 6:00pm-10:00pm
