About Ryde College

Ryde College is an internationally renowned specialist training centre for hospitality, tourism, horticulture and environmental management. It is the largest hospitality training centre in the Asia-Pacific region. Hospitality students train in commercially equipped kitchens, bars, cafes and restaurants. Facilities linked to training for the horticulture industry include computerised glasshouses, landscape design studios, a cricket pitch, golf green, tennis court and a bowling green.

Ryde College is built upon the homelands of the Guringai and Darug people.

Canteen

Hours of operation during term are Monday to Thursday 7:00am to 7:00pm, Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm

Banksia Kiosk

Hours of operation during term are Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm, Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm.

Bookshop

Opening hours during term time are 9:00am to 5:00pm. College association discounts may apply to some items.

There are computers available for student use in the college library.

Visit NSI Libraries

Lockers

You will find lockers in the change rooms Building A on Levels 5 and 6, and in the Banksia Building (Horticulture). They are mainly for daily use and no valuables should be kept in lockers at any time. You need your own strong padlock.

Photocopying

Pay photocopy facilities are available to students in the library, H Block, Level 2 and in the Acacia Building.

Public telephone

A public telephone is located in the Banksia Building (coin only).

Restaurants

The Ambassador restaurant and the Lobby Café are open to the public. The restaurant and café give students the opportunity to practice and develop professional skills in a simulated industry environment. Prices are reasonable and functions can be arranged by appointment.

Disabilities support

Disabilities support assists in making education and training available to everyone. Teacher-consultants are available to help you with pre-entry, modified attendance, tutors, note takers, sign language interpreters, exam modifications, adaptive equipment and special courses.

Access for students with a disability

Parking is available for students with a disability. Accessible toilets are available in the Acacia, Lower Level Banksia and Flindersia buildings and Telopea Centre.

Library

The library offers many resources, services and facilities to students and staff. These include relevant and up-to-date collections of books, textbooks, videos, DVDs and magazines, lending services, access to catalogues, database and information networks, reference services, inter-library loans, seminar and group study rooms. The library also provides access to the internet, computers, photocopiers and audiovisual equipment such as video, CD and cassette players. Library membership is free to all currently enrolled TAFE NSW students.

The college association gives members discounts at a number of shops, discount theatre and movie tickets, cheap holidays, access to sports facilities, student lounge, lockers, special library privileges and much more. Just tick college association on your enrolment form and pay $20 to join. Hours during term are 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Student administration

Contact student administration if you have questions about enrolment, examinations, your results, your transcript of academic record, issuing your certificate on course completion. Hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 6:00pm and Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Cashier's office

TAFE NSW colleges do not accept cash for payments in relation to your enrolment charges. Payment of administration fees may be made by cheque, EFTPOS, or credit card (MasterCard or Visa only). If paying by cheque please make payable to TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute then write your name, address and course number on the reverse side. Hours 9:00am to 4:30pm.

Ryde College is easily accessible by car and located close to Lane Cove and Ryde Roads.

The college is located on Blaxland Road, 15 minutes walk from West Ryde train station. Express train services from the centre of Sydney make it possible to travel to West Ryde in 30 minutes. From the station you can take buses to reach the college.
vehicle iconBy bus:
Buses stop directly outside the rear of the college. Bus services from the city include buses 515, X15 and 501.

 

Parking

Vehicle access is off 59 Parkes Street, West Ryde. Parking fee is $4 for college association members and $12 for non-members. Student car and motor cycle parking is available on the two lower car parking levels closest to Building H.
